Flying Saucers: A Modern Myth of Things Seen in the Sky

Late in his life, the founder of analytical psychology set aside the question of whether UFOs are physically real and instead treated the saucer as a modern 'visionary rumor' — a mandala-shaped archetype of wholeness projected onto the sky by a species anxious about nuclear annihilation and lost meaning. He examined saucers in dreams, paintings, and folklore as evidence of the psyche generating a new mythology in real time.
