CE5 Protocol

The CE5 Protocol is a meditation-based practice developed by physician and UFO researcher Steven Greer, intended to let ordinary people deliberately initiate friendly contact with UAP through coordinated group meditation, structured light signaling, and focused intention, rather than passively waiting to witness an encounter. The name extends Hynek's original close-encounter scale one step further than Hynek himself ever took it: where CE1 through CE4 all describe things that happen to a witness, Greer's CE5 (the fifth kind) describes something the human participants are said to actively bring about themselves through deliberate practice, a conceptual leap well beyond Hynek's own observational, case-cataloguing framework. Greer, who also organized the widely publicized 2001 Disclosure Project press conference, has run CE5 workshops and organized field expeditions internationally since the 1990s, building a genuinely large and dedicated community of practitioners who report successful contact experiences during group sessions. No controlled scientific study has validated the protocol's core claim that meditation and intention can reliably summon a genuine UAP response, and mainstream ufologists — including many otherwise sympathetic to the possibility of a real underlying phenomenon — generally treat CE5 as an unverified belief practice rather than an evidence-based investigative method, positioning it closer to the contactee tradition's voluntary-contact framing than to Blue Book-style case investigation.
